19th Century Venetian Murano Etched Mirror
An exceptional and highly decorative 19th-century Venetian Murano glass mirror, elegantly crafted in the classic heraldic shield form.
This piece beautifully captures the romance and unparalleled craftsmanship of historic Italian glassmaking. The central mirror plate is inset with an opaque white glass paste ( pasta vitrea ) silhouette depicting an 18th-century courtier holding a goblet atop a rococo plinth. The edge is defined by a classic twisted glass rope border, punctuated by five finely crafted, multi-layered hand-blown Murano glass rosettes, whilst the authentic, aged mercury-glass plate exhibits a beautifully oxidized, mottled patina that adds deep historical character.
